Report on Flagship Project HOSPICE NEPAL & Palliative Care by Hospice Nepal In-charge by Ganesh Koirala

The Rotary Club of Kasthamandap had the privilege of hosting Mr. Ganesh Koirala, a dedicated health worker and Hospice In-charge at Hospice Nepal, as the guest speaker during a recent club meeting. Mr. Koirala received specialized training in Pain and Palliative Care in Kerala, India, and has been serving with Hospice Nepal for the past ten years, providing compassionate care and support to patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families.
During his insightful presentation, Mr. Koirala shared his experiences in the field of hospice and palliative care, highlighting the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges faced by patients and caregivers. He emphasized that while life often presents tremendous pain and hardship, human beings possess remarkable resilience and the ability to find meaning, dignity, and comfort even in the most difficult circumstances. Through counseling, empathy, and holistic care, hospice services help patients live their remaining days with peace and quality of life.

Hospice Nepal and Rotary Club of Kasthamandap Partnership
Hospice Nepal serves as one of the flagship projects of the Rotary Club of Kasthamandap. The partnership reflects the club's commitment to humanitarian service, healthcare support, and community welfare. Through continuous financial assistance, volunteer involvement, and collaborative activities, the club has played a vital role in strengthening the institution's work.
Financial Commitment
Demonstrating the club's sustained commitment, the President of the Rotary Club of Kasthamandap pledged a monthly contribution of NPR 10,000, amounting to an annual commitment of NPR 120,000. The 3rd installment checks were formally handed over to Hospice Project Co-Coordinator PP Om Rajbhandary, reaffirming the club's ongoing support for the hospice initiative and its beneficiaries. Further the Miss Sadvi, daughter of PP Sajjan Bar Singh Thapa presented a cheque of NPR 15,000 to palliative care – a part of Hospice Nepal Project – whereby the needy in remote villages are taken care by trained health workers.
Over the past 10 years the club has been providing assistance to the construction of the Center – Hospice Nepal and currently there is a 1 cr worth of Global Grant running to develop the infrastructure of Hospice Nepal.
Community and Environmental Engagement
Beyond financial assistance, the Rotary Club of Kasthamandap actively participates in community-oriented activities at the Hospice Nepal premises. The club regularly organizes tree plantation drives and environmental conservation programs, engaging members, club leaders, and hospice staff in meaningful service projects.
