Information Sharing on Support of Burn Victims in Nepal

Burn injuries remain a major public health challenge in Nepal, with over 37,000 patients currently receiving treatment nationwide and an estimated 55,000 new cases annually. Despite repeated government commitments, specialized burn care facilities and trained manpower remain scarce, leaving most victims dependent on Kathmandu hospitals like Kirtipur and Bir.”
The Rotary Club of Kasthamandap hosted Mrs. Pratikshya Giri , the Executive Director of BVD NEPAL, the Burn Victim Organization as a guest speaker during its regular meeting on 18th September 2026. The session was dedicated to highlighting the organization’s mission, its impact on burn survivors, and Rotary’s decade-long support in sustaining its initiatives.
Mrs. Giri shared her personal journey of son’s burn affliction on joining the Organization, emphasizing the importance of compassion, resilience, and community involvement in supporting burn survivors. She spoke about the challenges faced by victims like her son who faced physical, emotional, and social barriers. She highlighted how the organization BVD NEPAL provides rehabilitation, counseling, and advocacy.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rotary Club of Kasthamandap for its 10 years of continuous support, which has enabled the organization to expand its outreach, conduct awareness campaigns, and provide medical and psychological assistance to survivors.
